J. Brent Richardson

Brent Richardson became a member of the California State Bar in December of 2002. He is experienced in the areas of drafting contracts, resolutions, and ordinances as well as handling employment issues, evictions, and transactional disputes.

Mr. Richardson graduated from Fresno State University with a B.S. in Business Marketing. He later obtained his Juris Doctorate degree from San Joaquin College of Law.  He began his legal career as a law clerk with the law office of William M. Krieg & Associates in Fresno and continued working there as an associate practicing consumer litigation after he was admitted to the California State Bar.  He later worked at a small firm doing contract city attorney and special district general counsel work.  In 2006, Mr. Richardson became in-house City Attorney for the City of Madera.  During his thirteen years there he performed all aspects of legal representation for the City of Madera, including prosecuting municipal code violations, handling land use matters, and litigating various civil claims.  He managed the day-to-day activities of the City Attorney Department, including personnel issues and budgeting. Mr. Richardson attended city counsel and planning commission meetings and provided legal advice on various topics, such as the redevelopment plan amendment and code enforcement.  Mr. Richardson also advised and represented the Madera Police Department on various issues including Pitchess motions.  In 2019, Mr. Richardson joined the law firm of Jamison Chappel & Beaumont located in Oakhurst, California.

Mr. Richardson served as legal counsel to the Madera Redevelopment Agency.  He acted as general counsel to the Housing Authority in matters of evictions, employment issues, and transactional issues. 

Mr. Richardson is a member of the Eastern Madera County Bar Association and the Mariposa County Bar Association.  In his spare time Mr. Richardson serves as a Chaplain for Racers for Christ and enjoys hiking, cycling, motor sports, shooting, and restoring his 1965 Mustang.
